The Queer Inclusion, Equity, Health, & Rights (QuIEHR) Working Group is pleased to offer a monetary stipend for Master of Public Health students engaged in an Applied Practical Experience (APE) related to sexual and gender minority (SGM)/LGBTQ+ health and/or human rights. This is a competitive award for which up to two (2) students will be selected.
Student must have an APE secured in order to apply for the stipend. All APEs that provide opportunities for students to advance SGM health will be considered, including (but not limited to) those working to determine SGM health disparities, establish policies to support SGM inclusion, or evaluate programs specifically serving SGM communities. Placements must meet APE guidelines in order to be selected for the award, including collaboration with an external partner organization or community members.
Eligibility
- Not be receiving payment/stipends from their APE site or another APE award
- Be in good standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Submit a completed learning agreement based by the following deadlines:
- Winter 2024 APE: December 31, 2023
- Spring 2024 APE: March 15, 2024
- Summer 2024 APE: May 31, 2024
- Fall 2024 APE: August 31, 2024
- CPT paperwork must be completed if on an F-1 visa
The stipend amount will be approximately $1500 (after taxes) and will be paid in one or two installments during the APE term (i.e., Winter 2024, Spring 2024, Summer 2024, or Fall 2024) depending on the preference of the recipient. Preference will be given to students who are not otherwise receiving payment from their APE placement.
