CHP Club Social Justice Award Recipients

The Community Health & Prevention (CHP) Club Social Justice Student Award is a fund that was conceived by the 2020-2021 CHP Club Executive Board members. The award is a $500 scholarship to recognize two first-year MPH students at the Dornsife School of Public Health for their dedication to social justice.

The Community Health and Prevention (CHP) Club has selected two first-year students to receive the department’s inaugural Social Justice Award in recognition of their dedication to social justice. Congratulations Sneha and Siani!

Sneha is an MD/MPH student at Drexel University with a concentration in Community Health and Prevention. She completed her undergraduate studies in biology at Drexel and recently finished her third year of medical school. Her public health interests include sexual and reproductive health and justice, antiracism, and immigrant health. Sneha hopes to practice as an Ob/Gyn doctor and reduce health disparities by addressing barriers to healthcare access and patient education. Outside of school, she likes to embroider, read, and eat (but not cook) delicious food.

Siani Anderson is an MPH student concentrating in Community Health and Prevention. Before pursuing her MPH, Siani attended the University of Miami, where she received her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology as well as Africana studies. Siani currently is a Volunteer Coordinator of The Shop Docs – a nationwide program that provides health screenings for predominantly minority men as they wait to get their hair cut in the barbershop.  Additionally, she is working with Shiriki Kumanyika, PhD, MS, MPH, to engage Black youth in a social/counter-marketing project which focuses on Black celebrity endorsements of unhealthy food and beverage products that are heavily marketed to Black communities.
